We all dream of beautiful, silky, luscious looking hair, aren't we? Wouldn't it be wonderful if every day was a good hair day? But sometimes having a good hair day seems to be a bit of a struggle. So, if you desire perfect hair then follow these few tips and remedies.

Tips for Healthy Hair

1. Wash your hair correctly

  • Do not wash your hair daily if possible as it will strip your hair of its natural oils resulting in dry and rough hair. Avoid washing your hair more than thrice a week.
  • Massage shampoo on your scalp and hair but never massage or apply hair conditioner on scalp and hair root.
  • Always wash your hair with cool temperature water. It retains the moisture and makes your hair shiny. 
  • Use hot or warm water occasionally if your hair is oily. But always give the last rinse with cool temperature water; otherwise, your hair will end up being dry. 

2. Oil your hair twice a week

Oiling your hair is very important if you have dry hair. One must oil their hair at least twice a week. Try to give your hair some special treatment from time to time. Treating your hair with oil can help to improve your hair’s health (texture and length). Once you oil your hair, massage your scalp with fingertips for 10-15 minutes. Massaging the scalp with oil will increase the blood flow thus promotes hair growth. Keep the oil for an hour or two and if possible overnight. After 2 hours or in the morning wash your hair with lukewarm water and your regular shampoo. Mustard oil, almond oil, Amla hair oil, Coconuts oil, and Olive oil are best for massage.

3. Comb Your Hair:

  • Always comb your hair. But do not over brush it either. Comb your hair every single day and keep them detangled. If possible keep your hair tied as this reduces tangling.
  • While combing, always start from the ends of your hair and not roots. And gradually move towards the roots because if you do it the other way around you might just tangle your hair further leading to hair loss.
  • Do not to comb wet hair. This leads to hair fall as hair is very inelastic when it's wet. 

4. Avoid too much styling products and heat tools

  • Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. Styling products can dry your scalp if used directly on the scalp. Avoid using them too often, but if you must, apply to hair and not the scalp.
  • Avoid styling your hair too much with heat tools like a blow dryer, hair straightener, and curling rod.
  • Skip any styling products that contain alcohol.

5. Eat right and healthy

External care helps for sure but what you do to your body on the inside also does miracles to your hair on the outside. Eating healthy foods keep your hair strong and lustrous and prevent hair loss.
  • Add food rich in iron, zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids, and protein to your diet.
  • Vitamins B-6, B-12, and folic acid are also important to your hair.

6. Trim your hair regularly 

It is essential to get rid of hair split ends to improve the look and feel of your hair. Regular trimming results in less breakage of the hair; thus hair grows faster.
